mFLOW Retreat

The mFLOW Retreat is a 4-day fully immersive, secular mindfulness retreat for high performers looking to enhance access to the state of flow in high intensity situations and in everyday life.
We will offer minimal didactic teachings around the theory and science of flow and instead prioritize extended periods of mindfulness meditation combined with experiential exercises to set participants up for sustaining micro-flow states throughout the duration of the retreat.
The mFLOW retreat is part of the mPEAK Coach Certification pathway but anyone can participate.

Retreat Information.

Days will begin at 7:30am and will end between 7:00pm or 8:00pm, depending on the evening schedule. The retreat will span four days. Arrival times are listed below to account for parking and getting settled. The last day of the retreat will be a half day to allow for travel plans.

Day 2: Arrive between 7:00 - 7:15am, 7:30am- 8pm

Each day’s retreat schedule will include extended periods of silence to immerse in a non-dual, effortless form of meditation. There will also be periods of intentional speaking on most days to allow participants to check-in and process the insights of experiential exercises. The retreat schedule will include daily movement in the form of hiking, yoga, and chi gong. Each day will have a unique theme that includes an experiential session, including:

Yoga mats and meditation cushions, and back jacks will be provided for your comfort.
Please bring your hiking shoes/boots, sunblock and hat, thermos for coffee, tea, and water. Dress comfortably and in layers.

Silence begins after lunch on day 1. Most of the days will be spent in silence, but there will be periods of intentional speaking to check-in and debrief exercises. Private meetings with the instructor can be scheduled with the instructor as needed.

The mFLOW Retreat is held in Elfin Forest, a rural community in San Diego. The Thunder Dome Retreat Center is part of the private residence of mPEAK creator and director, Pete Kirchmer.
The facility includes a 30’ geodesic meditation dome, 20’ yoga deck and space in nature for walking meditation. The dome will comfortably sit up to 25 participants on meditation cushions, back-jacks and chairs. The retreat center also includes, a fully equip CrossFit gym, cold plunge, Infra Red Sauna and swimming pool, as well as an archery range and axe throwing target. Sitting at the top of a hill, the 2 acre retreat center has 180 degree mountain views and is fully landscaped with flowering trees, a small vineyard, vegetable gardens and a fruit orchard.

The retreat space has an extended table that sits under a flowering coral tree with room for all participants to dine together at meal times. Healthy meals will be served, taking into account each participants food sensitivities. Most meals will be eaten in silence as a mindfulness practice but there will also be opportunities to commune and converse during the first and last meal. Coffee, tea and light snacks will be available at all times.
Meal service will begin at lunch on Day 1 and end after breakfast on Day 4.

Rental car, car-pool or Uber share is recommended for commuting to and from the venue each day. A welcome email with directions will be shared at registration.

If you’re arriving early in San Diego or staying extra days after the retreat you may consider moving to another hotel closer to tourist options. We recommend anywhere on the coast, the Gaslamp Quarter or Little Italy.

The mFLOW retreat was specially designed for athletes, first responders, business leaders and entrepreneurs, creative professionals and busy parents who aim to achieve big goals and face inevitable challenges without abandoning themselves in the process. mFLOW is about re-connecting with yourself, nature and the force of life that flows through you. This retreat is appropriate for beginner and seasoned mindfulness practitioners alike. Previous meditation experience is not necessary to participate, but will allow for a deeper experience.
